Riva receives Payment Institution license

Riva receives Payment Institution license approval from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen)

We're proud to announce that Riva Money Europe AB has been officially authorised as a Payment Institution (API) by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen).

This authorisation marks a major milestone in Riva's journey to make cross-border payments for businesses more cost-efficient, transparent, and faster.

A foundation for Riva's EU operations

The license forms the regulatory cornerstone of Riva's business within the European Union and enables the company to offer regulated payment services to businesses across the EEA.

In line with Riva's phased expansion strategy, the license will initially be passported to Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark, with additional countries added gradually as Riva scales its footprint across Europe.

Enabling a new standard for business payments

The approval from Finansinspektionen allows Riva to move from development to full operational readiness — paving the way to deliver on our mission of helping businesses make cross-border payments that are fair, transparent, and predictable.

With this authorisation, Riva can now operate under the EU and Swedish regulatory standards that govern established financial institutions, including robust safeguarding, governance, and compliance frameworks designed to protect client funds and ensure transparency.

Ultimately, this milestone enables Riva to offer a secure, compliant, and fully supervised alternative to traditional banks — built to meet the highest standards of transparency and operational integrity.

"With our Payment Institution license in place, Riva is ready to deliver the efficiency, transparency, and trust business payments have long deserved."

— Niklas Hoejman, CEO and co-founder Riva Money
